Puppet Master II: His Unholy Creations (Review)

They’re back, no strings attached is the tag line for the 1991 film Puppet Master II: His Unholy Creations the sequel to 1989’s Puppet Master. We are again introduced to the loveable puppets Blade, Leech Woman, Pinhead, Jester, and Tunneler. And a new puppet Torch who is a little hot under the collar if you know what I mean. The story starts in a cemetery where we see Blade, Leech Woman, Pinhead, Jester and Tunneler digging up a coffin. We than see Pinhead breaking open the coffin and pouring a yellow liquid in it and we see two grotesque arms emerge from the grave. This lets us know that what ever was in the grave is now is alive again but who is it. A few months go by and we see a team of scientists arrive at the vacant Bodega Bay Inn. They are there to investigate what went on in the previous film. It seems that Megan Gallagher has been murdered by having her brain extracted through her nose and the prime suspect is Alex Whitaker who has gone insane and is sent to an asylum. The scientists lead by Carolyn Bramwell (Elizabeth Maclellan) decides to set up cameras all over the hotel to pick up anything that is going on. And what follows is some gory goodness so give Puppet Master II a watch if you dare. Stay nerdy people.

Shock (Review)

What would you do if you saw someone getting murdered would you call the police, run away, or just go into shock? Well the latter happen to Janet Stewart (Anabel Shaw) in the 1946 thriller Shock. The film starts with Janet checking into a hotel so she can be reunited with her husband Lt. Paul Stewart (Frank Latimore) whom she thought had died in the war. While waiting in her room Janet has a dream about her husband knocking at the door. But Janet can’t let him in she is running to the door but it keeps getting farther away from her. Finally she makes it to the door but the door is gigantic now and she can’t turn the door knob because it is too big. Janet wakes up distraught by the dream. She looks at her clock and sees that it is 1:30 in the morning. She gets up from the couch she has fallen asleep on and goes to the balcony. Looking out the balcony she sees a couple arguing it seems that the man has been seeing another woman behind his wife’s back and she has caught him. The man tells his wife that he no longer loves her anymore and wants a divorce. But his wife is so upset about being deceived she says she is going to let everyone know that he has been unfaithful and is going to ruin him. This sends the man in a rage and he picks up a candle stick holder and hits his wife over the head with it and this kills her. Janet watches this unfold without being notice and steps slowly back in horror. The film cuts away to the next morning and we see Janet’s husband arrival at the hotel. He goes up to the room to surprise her but when he gets in the room he sees his wife sitting on the couch with a look of horror on her face. She is in shock hence the title of the movie. Lt. Paul calls the hotel staff so they can get a doctor to the room. The hotel calls Dr. Blair (Selmer Jackson) but the doctor explains to Lt. Paul that he is just a regular doctor who is better with a broken arm then issues involving the mind. So he tells Lt. Paul he knows a very good doctor who deals with mental issues and he also stays in the hotel that they are at. Enter Dr. Richard Cross (Vincent Price) the man who earlier that night murdered his wife!  I won’t give away what happens next you will just have to give it a watch. But it’s worth the viewing. Stay nerdy people.

Cop Out (Review)

I watched the 2010 comedy from director Kevin Smith the film Cop Out it is the first movie Kevin Smith directed but did not write. It really shows because it was no way funny as his previous works (Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Dogma etc.)  It was a good film but I am a huge Smith fan and the whole time watching it I was waiting for Jay and Silent Bob to show up. But I know Kevin Smith has tried to distance himself from the characters he created seventeen years ago. Don’t get me wrong this is a good film the plot goes this way two N.Y.P.D Detectives James "Jimmy" Monroe (Bruce Willis) and Paul Hodges (Tracy Morgan) have been partners for nine years we find this out when Paul (Tracy Morgan) gives  Jimmy a anniversary card. Then we get to see Paul integrate a drug dealer using a lot of movie quotes that are pretty funny even a quote from the film Die Hard which is funny. The Drug dealer becomes an informant for Jimmy (Bruce Willis) and Paul (Tracy Morgan). They set up a sting to take down the drug dealer’s supplier. Jimmy (Bruce Willis) is waiting in the car across the street from the cell phone shop where the drug dealer’s supplier drops off the drugs while Paul (Tracy Morgan) is outside the shop dressed up like a giant cell phone. This scene starts a chain reaction of bad things for a couple of dicks starting with the two being suspend for a month without pay. Jimmy losing his prize baseball card that he needs to sell to pay for his daughter’s wedding and Paul thinking his wife is cheating on him. The film has its ups and downs but overall it is an entertaining film and one I think you should check out. Stay nerdy people.

Le Manoir du diable (English Version: The House of the Devil) (Review)

In 1896 on Christmas Eve the film Le Manoir du diable was released. It is considered to be the first horror film. It was directed, produced, written and also starring Georges Méliès. It also stars Jeanne d’ Alcy. The film has a running time of three minutes, by today standards not a very long film. The film is set in a medieval castle and starts when a large bat flies into the castle. The bat slowly circles flapping its grotesque wings before transforming into Mephistopheles. Then Mephistopheles produces a cauldron then we see him give rise to skeletons, ghosts, and witches from its bubbling inside. Then an underworld cavalier is beckoned then he sticks up a crucifix to force away Mephistopheles who dissolves in an explosion of smoke. The film included several conventional pantomimes elements and was deliberately intended to amuse people to a certain extent than to scare them. So go give it a watch. Stay nerdy people.

The Hunger Games(Artemis) (P)

I just found out some exciting news from around these parts(Hickory NC). A movie based on a trilogy of books from author Suzanne Collins is going to be film in  Hildebran, N.C. Collins books the material is based on are The Hunger Games,” "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay. But mainly the first book "The Hunger Games". The plot is that in the remains of North America lies the country of Panem, where there are 12 districts that must choose one girl and one boy between the ages of 12 to 18 to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death in an arena on live television as punishment for the 'Dark Days' when the 12 districts rebelled together against the country's government, the Capitol. When 16 year old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to takes her sister Prim's (Willow Shields) place in the Games, she will leave behind her family and her friend Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), meet her fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), and be pitted against other tributes from fellow districts who have trained for this their whole life. Katniss must try her hardest to do the unthinkable—win the Hunger Games(source Wikipedia). From the plot this seems like it is going to be a interesting film. Also one of my favorite actors is going to be in it the great Woody Harrelson. So I am super stoked and I will give you more updates when I learn of them. See ya.

Rampage (Review)

Rampage is a film from 2009 by Controversiafilm director Uwe Boll. It Stars Brendan Fletcher as Bill Williamson a 23 year old who lives with his parents. The film starts out showing Bill working out while listening to clips from the news. All of the news being bad in nature. Then we are introduced to his parents played by Matt Frewer and Lynda Boyd. No names are give to Bill parents they are just Mom and Dad. We soon learn that they want Bill to move out and get his own place. Bill seems like this doesn't really bother him. But there seems to be inner turmoil within Bill. Soon the fireworks go off in this movie by fireworks I mean bombs gun shots etc. This film is very visceral so remember that before you sit down and watch it. Overall this is a good film good pacing and a twist at the end. Also Michael Paré from Eddie and the Cruisers fame is in it so it can't be that bad. So give Rampage a watch and if you do you won't be sorry unless Bill gets you.

G.I. Joe A Real American Hero (Review)

Yesterday I was watching G.I. Joe The Movie from 1987. And boy did it bring back memories from my childhood. It was like I was transported back to Saturday morning as a kid. I think G.I. Joe was my favorite cartoon and action figures from the eighties or maybe it was He-man. Who really cares not you I am sure. But it was nice seeing my old friends Duke, Hawk, Snake Eyes, and Scarlett. Also let me not forget about the Cobra Command Destro,The Baroness, Dr. Mindbender and My favorite Cobra Commander. The movie is pretty good or am I biased maybe both. But if you have a little time on your hands give this movie a watch and if you were a kid of the eighties like me you won't regret it. Because knowing is half the battle! Go Joe!!
